Cairo

Cairo is even livelier at night than it is during the day, and the Cairenes have always known how to enjoy themselves. As the sun goes down, the people come out. Shopping, socialising and drinking coffee all need to take place before the serious business of eating, drinking, dancing and music begins. The fun goes on for as long as you can stand the pace and even though most places wind down around 0300 or 0400, you will still find some that are open 24 hours. Wednesdays and Thursdays are the days for the big nights out. There is plenty of nightlife in Cairo. Most basic are the baladi bars, often called 'cafeterias' to disguise the fact that they are selling alcohol. They are perfectly safe, although a little rough and women on their own might feel uncomfortable in what is essentially a male domain. If you want to seek some out, try the Sharia Alfy area around the Midan Orabi.

Nile Cruise

Every day there is an entertainment programme, which differs from one boat to the other. On most cruise ships the first day is usually a cocktail party, presented and run by the boat manager, where they offer free drinks and introduce the senior staff on board. This party is also known as "The manager's party", where the manager introduces his crew to the passengers onboard. It is Advised to wear smart causal cloths during this cocktail.

2-Another night there is a "Galabia party", where you will be encouraged to get Egyptian outfits and wear the local Galabia. To buy a Galabia, it will cost you around 50-70 LE, but if you do not wish to buy one, you can hire one from the bazaar shop located onboard.

If you choose to buy your Galabia from outside the boatThere are many bazaars outside the Temples that you will be visit during your cruise. Don't forget to haggle hard!

-Another night will have a Nubian show, where you will see Nubian dancers and singers in their local outfit.

-The last evening's entertainment is usually has: a belly dancing show, a juggler's show (whirling dervishes) with local singers and bands.

Hurghada

Hurghada is the undisputed favourite resort among Egyptians and visitors from around the world who love sunshine, sea and diving. At least one hundred tourist developments of varying levels of luxury stretch for twenty kilometres along the coast.

It seems a long time since Hurghada was nothing more than a small fishing village and modest shipyard ignored by the rest of the world, including the Egyptians. In fact, it is only in the last ten years that Hurghada has grown into a town of 35,000 inhabitants to become the most popular seaside resort in the country. Hurghada is the undisputed favourite resort among Egyptians and visitors from around the world who love sunshine, sea and diving. At least one hundred tourist developments of varying levels of luxury stretch for twenty kilometres along the coast. The town centre, known as the Ed-Dahar quarter, has preserved a certain traditional character with a small souk and cheap hotels.Few coral reefs are accessible by swimming from the shore and it is therefore worth paying for a day's excursion out to sea. Various clubs offer this type of trip and among the most prized destinations are the Giftun Islands. The islands are a conservation area and access is restricted. Rubbish and wastewater are collected by specially equipped boats.
